The Elopement Investment Guide

WELCOME TO THE TAPESTRY COMMUNITY

I’m Kate, Founder and Creative Director of Tapestry Event Company—and on behalf of the entire team, we are so grateful you’ve made your way to us.

A marriage is a blending of values, traditions, and families; an expressive tapestry of experiences, adventures, and aspirations woven together to create something deeply personal to you. A wedding is an opportunity to build and share that vision with your community—to introduce loved ones to your unique relationship in a way that feels like home.

That’s why our work is grounded in more than just practical planning, but in building skills that will strengthen your bond in the years following your wedding day. We offer a roadmap to marriage designed for couples who lead ambitious, connected, and passion-filled lives, with planning strategy and coaching underpinned by thoughtful marriage practices.

Our passion? Guiding your mindful planning process to craft an unforgettable launch into marriage.

Our signature style? Honest, warm, and soulful—couples often say it’s like “speaking with old friends.”

Our approach? Modern, flexible, and supportive, attuned to the details that matter most.

We offer a road map to marriage that is built for couples who lead ambitious, connected, passion-filled lives. We laugh a lot, match your elopement planning experience to your values, and replace tradition with meaning. Our work is grounded in the sincere desire that the celebration of your love becomes woven into the fabric of your lives. The leadership, coaching, and guidance we offer our couples is underwritten by mindful marriage practices. We provide resources to stimulate independent thinking and help couples build meaningful skills in the areas of communication, budgeting, investment, and conscious partnership.

We want your elopement to be more than a blip on your radar; we want you to launch the next chapter of your lives with a deeper bond, a vibrant community, and the tools to sustain the health of your connection well into the future.

So what are you waiting for? Let’s build a celebration that centers your values, passions, and uniqueness. If you’re ready to make your wedding the kick-off to your marriage legacy, then you’ve found your planning team!

The Tapestry Experience

Deep, authentic connection is our specialty. That’s why we become your trusted friends and advocates in the year leading up to your big day. Our priority is to “get you”—what lights you up and the moments that make you pause—and to infuse those details into your celebration.

When you work with us, you won’t be stuck in your inbox. Our process is filled with joy, passion, and heart, even amidst all the practical “to-dos” that come before your “I do’s.” Asking the right questions is key to making sure your values remain at the center of every investment decision—we’re never afraid to dive deep. We honor your busy schedules and direct your energy where it’s needed most, so that you can step away from the planning and focus on LIVING.

The Tapestry Process

We match you with the planning support that fits your vision—nothing more, nothing less.
Once you’re in, you get a custom planning portal and a rhythm of communication that keeps you informed, involved, and never overwhelmed.

We meet consistently to tackle the essentials: venue, vendors, design, timeline, day-of flow—every piece that shapes the energy of your celebration.

Our work helps you define your aesthetic, refine the scope, honor your budget, choose aligned vendors, and bring your weekend (or day) to life with intention. The craft is in how we stretch your imagination, turn your ideas into a plan, and build a celebration that feels unmistakably yours.

We handle the logistics while inviting you into a deeper connection with your partner and the heart behind this commitment.
And when the day arrives, we execute with the kind of enthusiasm that makes everything feel effortless.

And on the day of the wedding…we had literally zero things that needed to be brought to our attention, and felt that we could

just relax and enjoy the weekend.”

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • We sure do! Our process is not solely for those looking to elope adventurously (though our PNW backyard certainly lends itself to that kind of scenery). Some of our favorite elopements have been city-based excursions. Our very first planning meeting dives into choosing a location that is the right fit for your interests and values. We believe in tailoring an epic elopement day to your desires, wherever that might lead us. We are planners and community builders first, travelers and adventurers second.

  • An elopement budget can vary in scale depending on how many services you’re hiring. Our services are best leveraged with budgets of $15,000 and above for Pacific Northwest adventures. That $15,000 typically covers the cost of planning and coordination, photography, two personal floral items, hair and makeup, officiating, and accommodations/travel. Often, our couples opt to add services like videography, catering and dessert, or other decorations and rentals. We find that $25,000 is a healthy budget for any Pacific Northwest elopement and that we can scale up depending on where your vision and financial priorities rest. For destination locations, we recommend a budget of $35,000 or more to cover the increased cost of travel for you and your vendors.

  • A great question! TLDR: We define an elopement as just two people plus up to two witnesses.

Depending on who you ask, you may get a different answer. That’s because there is no “industry standard” definition and, with the accelerated boom of elopements in 2020, many new service providers jumped in with a borrowed definition. The key distinction to our planner brains is that an elopement doesn’t require a large effort at managing guest attendance and communication. That is one of the biggest benefits of eloping — you can stay focused on just the two of you without having to take an entire group of guests into consideration! If that’s you, then we’d love to see you fill out an elopement application. If you are bringing guests along on the adventure, then we recommend bopping over to our Weddings page. We pride ourselves on planning weddings of all sizes and our Partial Planning package is the most popular fit for our friends hosting intimate sized affairs.

  • We think that's great! If your guests are a low-key addition who are along for the elopement ride with the two of you, then we simply charge an additional fee per head to cover the cost of our time spent managing additional attendants. That fee is $100 per person for Pacific Northwest elopements and $300 per person for destination elopements. If inviting guests means that your elopement transitions to a small wedding--often including invitations and guest management, a more involved reception and expanded team of vendors to support--then you belong over on our Weddings page.

  • We encourage our couples to elope during the week. Prices are better, competition for artists and services is less severe, and there are fewer people around to mess with the vibe. If you want to elope in nature and plan for sunshine, we recommend a day in the months of July through mid-September for the best possible weather. That said, we love a seasonal theme and any couple that is down for snow or shoulder season weather is a couple we also want to work with.

  • If you can dream it, we can build it. We've created elopement proposals for destinations all over the West Coast, select destinations on the East Coast, Mexico, Italy, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, and Spain. We know how to resource the best experience, when to tap into local experts, and where to look for professionals to support your vision. We look forward to seeing where our couples will take us next!

Our Tapestry Team is unavailable to plan weddings that do not consider the safety and abilities of all guests and vendors. We intentionally work only with couples who support an inclusive experience for all involved, making efforts which may look like (but certainly aren’t limited to):

  • Communicating clear event expectations to guests

  • Setting boundaries for healthy gatherings

  • Proactively creating policies to address disruptive behaviors

  • Checking in to ensure enthusiastic participation

While we are passionate about the outdoors, we are not exclusively an adventure wedding and elopement company.  We are primarily a planning company that works in unique and meaningful spaces that often intersect with Mother Nature, whether they are indoor or outdoor venues, holding both ourselves and our couples to high standards, regardless of the location.
