JM Cellars: Two Ways

Attention to all of our PNW countryside enthusiasts: We have found the perfect place for you to tie the knot! JM Cellars is a venue nestled in the hillside of Woodinville, Washington. If you’re looking for a cozy, nature-rooted spot for your celebration, JM Cellars fits the bill. This venue provides their guests with a unique homestead experience without getting your hands dirty. Let’s take a deeper look on how two different couples used this space to accommodate the most important aspects of their special day.

KATE + TOM.

Kate and Tom began working with the Tapestry Team in 2020, pre-pandemic era. The idea from the beginning of the planning process was to create an intimate, family-centric day. However, their story is similar to the many couples of 2020 who had to make vast changes to their celebration due to the impending Coronavirus pandemic. Kate and Tom had to downscale their wedding to ensure the safety of their family and friends, which resulted in getting married surrounded by only their most immediate family members in the backyard where Kate grew up.

We still wanted to see their vision come to fruition and made the decision to have a larger gathering at JM Cellars in 2022. The core values of their 2020 celebration translated well into their planning process: classic choices, peaceful planning, and a simple agenda. The role that their immediate family members played in years prior would remain the same: they previously acted as a as wedding party and co-hosts in their Woodinville backyard, but this time it would be at a venue across the valley from her childhood home.

The couple wanted everyone involved to feel like family, and that played a large part in picking suitable vendors. They chose a childhood friend as their photographer, and we helped select vendors that had the personality and vision that would fit perfectly within their comfort zone. We were particularly proud when the bride and the florist exchanged long-format emails about their love of dahlias and summer blooms, and when the caterer was happy to incorporate a surprise snack drop during the dance party. Talk about matches made in matrimony heaven.

The morning of the ceremony, JM Cellars had everything the couple needed at their fingertips. The day started off in the upstairs space of the venue where the wedding party could play pool, eat snacks, and prepare themselves for the day-to-come. Their super sweet and simple ceremony would take place outside on the bocce court, followed by a cocktail hour. (Of course!)

As the celebration continued, guests were invited to a family-style dinner on the outdoor patio, where Kate and Tom had placed personalized gratitude notes on each seat as a beautiful reminder that everyone there was chosen with intention and love. After dinner, we heard some adorable toasts that swiftly turned into a dance party in the Barrel Room!

After a day filled with such large emotions, it was time to wind down with a snack that is familiar to many PNW couples, Dick’s Burgers. (Which were absolutely DEMOLISHED, by the way!)

All and all, the couple’s goals were met. It was a day full of love, laughter, and peace. Each little detail served a purpose and guests left feeling more like family than ever.

BRENDA + MIKE.

Meet our other Seattle couple, Brenda and Mike. These two joined the Tapestry Team before they had selected a venue. They cherished everything that made Seattle their home: green spaces, lush foliage, and laid-back living. After a few chats and some light advice, we decided that their PNW vibes would work best with a place like JM Cellars. The couple prioritized hiring POC and family-owned vendors, with a little help from Tapestry’s Recommended Vendors list.

While Kate and Tom had a more gradual release of energy as the day carried on, this couple wanted a more activities-based event, with their celebration peaking in energy every couple hours. To be able to execute this party correctly, we started the festivities early in the day at 3:00pm so that family and friends had ample opportunity to connect, chat, eat, and dance. Since this took place in the spring months, we wanted to make use of the beautiful outdoor space whether we were blessed with rain or shine. To prepare, we brought in some clear tenting to ensure the couple could enjoy an outdoor dance party regardless of the weather.

As the day progressed, JM Cellars was on top of refreshing the space with frequent turnovers and music changes. There was not one, but TWO cocktail hours! One before the ceremony to get guests warmed up in the space together, and one after the ceremony to elevate the celebratory atmosphere. This allowed there to be a constant flow of new energy and excitement for family and friends.

This celebration also had a huge emphasis on family and a high attention to detail. The ceremony on the bocce court included heartwarming tributes to loved ones. The couple also created a custom-blend olive oil for guests and activity bags for the kids that attended during the dinner indoors.

People danced until the sun went down and Brenda and Mike graced us with a spunky little outfit change and a late night snack for their guests. What was the snack, you may ask? You guessed it, chicken burgers and fries. (Our favorite thing about working with PNW couples is that they know the importance of a late night burger!)

After we checked out of JM Cellars for the night, the party did not stop there and was followed up at the hotel for some more drinks and dancing. This event felt like a close-knit community party, and we are so happy we got to hang out all day with this wonderful group of humans!

JM CELLARS: DO IT YOUR WAY.

We absolutely adore working with such a great venue. This spot has a way of making you feel at home, no matter where you’re from. The natural setting allows for both intimate gatherings, as well as accommodating larger groups. The space has an amazing staff, chair rentals, major furniture and décor on deck! The communication we have received from them has consistently been clear and concise and they know how their venue operates the most effectively. JM Cellars also has a list of vendors that they recommend for couples to ensure everyone on your team is providing a professional, seamless experience. (p.s. We are on that list!)

Want to check out JM Cellars? They are open year-round for wine tasting if you ever want to take a quick visit, or if you're feeling nostalgic and want to relive your amazing wedding memories!
